Adventure 840: Day 63/Tucson/2023

The weekend went too fast with the kids. In a final flourish, Judy took Steve and Bonnie out to Sweetwater Preserve for a real hike in the desert. The girls stayed at the house. While I was at Tai Chi and Judy was at her work out, the Williams' family packed up for their trip back to Spokane. We had lunch at the local In N Out and then we rode the down town trolley for a little bit until we dropped them off at the airport. They'll get back to Spokane about midnight and will be back in their respective saddles tomorrow morning. It was fun having them here. I wound myself down this evening with a small dose of mind numbing news, which I've been avoiding for quite some time. Nothing seems to have changed. The politicians are still acting in expedient ways. Both political parties are still frothing in outrage. The sky is still falling. The world is still inching toward Armageddon. Kind people still exist. Human decency still counts. Anything is still possible. Everything still matters. None of us is in charge. And life is still good, especially today.

We wandered around the Barrio Viejo for while. Much like the saguaro cactus, the Southwestern architecture holds me spellbound.

Trolleyites.

Obligatory cactus picture: Still hoping to see the bloom.

Wonder of the day: This guy riding his little rat dog.

In N Out is what it's all about.

Very soon this revered but neglected barrio will be revived, restored, and rejuvenated.

Selfie of the day: Desert Hikers.
