Adventure 736: LeFleur State Park Jackson, MS

We left early in a dense fog. Going was slow both because of the fog and because we chose to run the back roads instead of cruising the freeway through Shrevesport, LA. Thankfully, traveling mercies were with us again, and we settled into site #9 just about 2 P.M. We got our hot spot working in time to watch the Zags pull a tough one out. The uninitiated might look at the final score and think the game was easy. It was anything but. I'm sure the only thing on the Zags mind is the advance, so on to a match with Memphis on Saturday. Our run of good weather looks to be running out tonight. The weatherman predicts 100% chance of rain and thunder tonight and most of tomorrow. The sun will return Saturday, which will be nice since that's when we plan to tour the Peace and Justice Memorial in Montgomery. That is, after all, the reason we're this far afield. Our place here at what these Southern boys call a lake is very peaceful. Several guys had their fishing lines in the murky water this afternoon. I didn't see anyone catch anything, but here tell there's bass in that brown water. We had planned on taking a little tour around Jackson, but that was before we realized the Zags were playing. We had to settle for BBQ pork loin instead of some local BBQ brisket and ribs. We'll make up for that in Montgomery. My guess is we'll be able to find some well prepared "Pig" in that city as well. In the meantime, we're content enough to say, "Life is good, especially today."

The view from our back window.
Fric and Frac happily placed in site #9.
Lots of swamp, but great trees.
Fric and Frac from across the lake.
Lots of ducks, bugs, frogs, and birds. Pretty idyllic actually.
A shot from the car window in Crockett, Texas. You just ain't whistling Dixie, Buster. A little flashback for this historical town. The movie playing is Father of the Bride.
