Adventure 382: Phoenix, AZ/Covered Wagon RV Park/Post D

Give us a chance; we can dance!
Great day in Peoria. Hoop Heaven as it were, and since I was enjoying the March Madness in front of the Isaac's theater wide TV, I couldn't have hoped for much more. I've long been passionate about the game of basketball. In fact, when I was a skinny little seventh grader (See photo left), I'd already had four years of organized playing experience. In fact, for many years, I played basketball all day, every day. While my playing days are long past, I still love the game. We enjoyed Gonzaga's win, and Russ and I talked various aspects of basketball during TV timeouts throughout the day while Judy and Kathy came in and out. It was a fine day, and we'll be sad to be moving on tomorrow if it weren't for the exciting prospect of spending more time with Russ and Kathy next year. In the meantime, we're looking forward to the cool freshness of Flagstaff, which boasts not only pine trees and mountains, but it also claims to offer one of the best road riding experiences in Arizona: The Lake Mary Road. We were a bit remiss during our stay in Phoenix in terms of bike riding. We didn't even look at "Papa", who stood so forlornly chained to a tree in front of our trailer. Our excuse was the heat, but in truth, we had quite a few errands to run while we were in the valley. We hope to rectify that in the next few days. We're also in that lull time where this leg of the trip is coming to an end. We still have four weeks, but time has a way of slipping out from under us, so in one sense we're starting to anticipate home, but in the other, more real sense, we're still living in the moment. It's  an interesting reality that comes over us after we've been on the road for nearly three months. But the bottom line is that we're still very privileged, still very eager explorers, and still grateful that we get to enjoy a life that is good, especially today.

The tranquil water feature on the back patio of Russ and Kathy's home.
A rare rusted road hammer bird.
More than a dozen hot air balloons dotted the desert skyline on our way back from Peoria.
A trip to the southwest isn't complete without a decadently delicious stop at an In-n-Out. I mean look at the greasy grin on that girl.
Two singles without cheese, and we share an order of fries (Calorie saving, you know).
