Looks like we got outta Dodge just in time. Angela reported five inches of snow, wind blowing both ways, and a four foot icicle forming on the down spout off the back porch. Meanwhile, we basked in the 67 degree weather this morning. We rode another section of the Tucson bicycle loop, about thirty miles. The wind kicked up to about twenty this afternoon, so it was good we rode early. Judy walked over to the local Vietnamese Nail Salon for a pedicure and a nice lower leg rub. She came back glowing and refreshed. Tomorrow we leave Sentinel Peak for a Hipcamp down the road called The El Pais Motel. It's pretty funky, and while still urban, it should prove interesting. Time will tell. And by the way, for those of you interested in a little utopian science fiction, I'm enjoying a book by Kim Stanley Robinson called The Ministry for the Future. While scary enough, Robinson does offer hope for our future and presents a few ideas worth considering. I think hope is a good thing, and for my money there's much too much "scaredy catting" going on. Try to remember that life is good, especially today.
Here in South Tucson the culture of the original inhabitants is quite alive. We just had to go back to Tania's for another burrito.
This icicle in our back porch down spout formed in one day.
The area tribes used to meet at the confluence of two rivers to celebrate in spring.
Angela had to take a break from the shoveling.
Graffiti art: dystopian
Indian art: meditative
We ride well aware of our privilege.
