Adventure 196: Lake Havasu City, AZ/Post B

Morning began with a fresh cup of Joe.
Talk about amenities! Imagine waking to freshly brewed coffee, a bottomless cup, followed by fresh flapjacks and sausage smothered in sweet syrup and served with the effervescent smile of Proprietor Ellsworth. And that was just the beginning of the full list of services offered by this luxurious resort! Breakfast was followed by a delightful cruise up the Colorado River atop the emerald green water in a nicely appointed pontoon boat, which had a bimini to provide shade, a freshly packed lunch, ice cold water, good conversation, and a soothing spray rooster tailing behind the pontoons. Deep in the canyon, we eased onto a sandy beach bordered by shoots of reeds growing on the shore, shut the engine down, and enjoyed a relaxing lunch. Our beach spot lay directly under the Needle Mountains just short of Topack. The view of the water was intoxicating as it made its way from the shallow brightness of the sandy shore to the rich green blue depths which housed an untold number of bass and other marine life. After lunch, we pushed gently off, and idled our way back down stream onto Lake Havasu gazing at other boaters, the flora and fauna growing on shore, an occasional water bird, and of course, the stark contrast between the water and the jagged roughness of the low desert terrain. The sky was azure blue, the temperature about 82 degrees. It was a day of resort service unparalleled in our experience. We eased the boat out of the water about 3 P.M. and traveled an unhurried six miles back to home base, where the lady of the resort (Kathy) prepared a lush string of food stuffs she called: "Javanese". Javanese was several bowls all in a line. A little bit was taken from each bowl to form a blend of textures and tastes. In order the bowls contained: rice, roasted chicken chunks, Chinese shoe string noodles, chopped celery, chopped scallions, chopped tomatoes, pineapple chunks, warm chicken gravy, coconut flakes, chopped walnuts, and a jar of candied cherries. I can see the dish appearing soon on the Williams table. After dessert of cheesecake, we sat on the veranda enjoying the warm clear evening. As a final touch, I slipped into the resort's steaming hot tub and gazed at at the night stars. If I could rate the place higher than five stars, I would, but one thing is sure: Life is good, especially today.

 Hot Rod of the day.
Neighbor, Bob Bohlen, restores VW buses as a hobby (Quite exquisitely, I might add).
Miss Judy (Stumpy) climbing quite easily up to the pontoon boat.
 Ready to launch, skipper!
Quite happy to be aboard, skipper!
"Cast off the lines," ordered Captain Mike.
"Eye, eye", replied First Mate, Kathy.
A safe selfie once we were under way.
Some of our fellow boaters took the fast lane.
The Needles, for which Needles, CA is named.
Some of our fellow boaters took the slow lane.
 Stumpy seems to be relaxed.
Our lunch spot along the Colorado. This is living!
 The "Javanese" line up.
My plate after a run through the line up. Quite yummy.
