Adventure 63: Corpus Christi , TX/Post C

Nick Marshall, Auburn quarterback: quite a specimen
For a basketball junkie like me to endure so much football seems like cruel and inhuman punishment, but while in Rome… We ventured out of Frac for a brief walk to the local H.E.B. store (Like a Rosauers) on the pretense that we needed something. It was a balmy 37 degrees then and it is that now, many hours later. We've managed only 5,000 steps for the day, and our poor bikes are rusting in the frigid salt air. After the Sooners ripped the heart out of the Cowboys, we decided to explore the city a little more before the Auburn/Missouri game started. We made a wide twenty mile rectangle in search of one of the newer high schools. On the way, we discovered a Starbuck's, so we replenished our coffee supply. The school in our neighborhood is 75% free and reduced lunch. The high school we found, one of six others in the city, is 30%, which if I remember, is close to Sacajawea's numbers. At any rate, the high school we saw had an equally large football stadium (Like I said: Rome). We also drove through "everywhere America", or corporate  America to those of you who aren't familiar with my idiosyncrasies. Other than those two outings, we've hunkered down in our warm little trailer watching the various games of the week. During commercials, the wily cager has managed to stretch her lead in the Corpus Christi Open. She is currently ahead 4-2, so I'm stalling until tomorrow (I learned this trick from her). Tomorrow the temperature is supposed to increase by 30 degrees, so we hope to ride a little, or at least walk along the gulf shore. On our way back to the trailer after our drive, we stopped at a little taqueria in our neighborhood. We scarfed the soft tacos before I could take a picture, but the tortillas were even better than the ones my Hunny Bunny makes, the carne asada was nicely fried, and Enrique, our quiet (family member) waiter was kind and attentive. In fact, he was extremely deferential. I think it was because he was wondering what a couple of elderly gringos were doing in his neighborhood on a frigid Saturday in December. Judy thinks he was just nervous speaking English. Either way, our snack was another very cheap ($5:00 for chips, two large soft tacos, and a coke) and excellent mini-lunch. The good news, except for Judy beating me like a bad dog, is that we're warm and comfortable and through the magic of technology we've talked to relatives and friends and we've got to see our very cute newest relative (Finnley) on Facebook, so I'd have to say, "Life is good, especially today."
Rated number six by Urban Spoon. Hard to imagine five that are better
So this is Christmas at Garibaldi's
So this is Christmas in Frac.
 More Christmas in Frac.
And not to forget the Christmas wreath, and the Christmas cribbage board.
I think she ate one of Erin's cookies: Or maybe that's her Christmas grin.
It's just a little chilly here in the gulf.
I've been busy working on my toe exercises.
 The palm trees are shivering.

The view from our front room: Three salty dogs.
We were tied after the first turn.
By the home stretch, my little peglets had wee weed all the way, way back. Grrrr!
