Adventure 625: Western Hills Campground, Rawlings, Wyoming

Wow! What an adventure today. First, we felt the first raindrops about 8 AM, a light pitter-patter that became a strong plop-plop by 10. The radar then said a lull in the moisture would last until noon, so we said goodbye to the Sweet Hollow Farm and made our way over the daunting Teton Pass, complete with its 10% grades, 20 MPH hairpins, a road construction stop on the uphill, and bumper to bumper traffic on the way down. It was white knuckle all the way. The weather in Victor tonight promised 35 degrees, so maybe the morning drive over the pass may have proven not only steep and daunting, but also slimy and slick. As it was, it was a significant test of the braking systems on Fric and Frac, and glad I am that we chose to make the trip today. After the pass, we rolled through the beautiful Jackson Hole Valley, enjoying the river road, the just turning aspens, and the general ambience of the well healed mountain homes. As soon as we left the mountains, a steady drizzle and buffering winds pushed us onward to Rock Springs where we refueled and pushed on to Rawlings. The winds here will be 40+ so we're glad to be snuggled in among several other RVs. Traveling mercies willing, we'll now arrive in Kansas a day earlier than planned, which of course makes my Bunny giddy. Right now, I'm just about to turn the heater off because it's so toasty in Frac. Clearly, life is good, especially today.

One political statement in honor of RBG: Mitch McConnell denied Merrick Garland a hearing on the excuse that it was an election year; he said the rightful thing to do was let the American people decide the election before a Supreme Court Justice appointment. His position has changed a bit, so much that I can smell the stuff he's standing in.

Jackson in the distance.

White knuckle turns.

Hairpin turns!
Falcon photo of the day: Roller walking chair bliss.

See you next time, Sweet Hollow Farm.
