Adventure 632: Franz Dome/Post F

Selfie of the day: a pair of Happy Campers

Activity today revolved around football. We made one small venture outside to the Farmer's Market, but other than that we watched football game after football game. Not only is it tradition around here, but the weather outside was frightful. The temperature reached 95 degrees, and although the locals say there's not much humidity, I sweat like the fat man I am whenever I leave the cool regulated air of the Franz Dome. Needless to say, the juke joint was jumping after the undermanned Wildcats overcame the dreaded Oklahoma Sooners who were ranked #3 in the nation. Even though I'm not much of a football fan, I found myself among the other Manhattanites cheering wildly,  "EMAW". (That's Every Man A Wildcat for you Westerners).  In addition, today we also got to yell, "OU-OUCH". Bouyed by our purple excitement, we turned to the game at Oklahoma State where Rod was running the thirty second clock Sadly, they don't show the clock operators on the replay that often, so we turned to the Texas-Texas Tech game, which was another fabulously exciting college game. The Longhorns pulled the game out in overtime. After a delicious dinner of cauliflower curry and drumsticks, we amused ourselves with a couple of card games. I was the lucky winner tonight in Hollywood Gin, and Karen taught us a new game we'll likely play when Rod gets back. Beyond all this banal stuff, it was still a day for sisters. Arlene made her way back to Hutchinson after breakfast, unaware that besides our visit next Wednesday, Rod and Karen will join us to celebrate her husband Wilbur's birthday, (albeit a bit early) along with Wilbur and Arlene's wedding anniversary. It's undeniably true that the joy of family makes life good, especially today.

Happy campers since 1968.
Five pretty amazing ladies.

Sisters celebrating yet another good day.
Sad goodbye (Last time).
Traditional Angel Food Cake: Happy early birthday, Wilbur.

Not that many birthdays back.
Falcon photo of the day: The acorn and the tree.
Costa Rica is looking better all the time.
Another pair of happy campers.

Regardless of the pairing, sisters share.
Here's a pair share.
