Adventure 469: FOMO Tour/ Day 7/OB Fuller Park/Post B

Life's a beach.
It's a quiet day her in the U.P. The regulars at Fuller Park wake up much later than Judy's 4:30 A.M. and not many were stirring when I rolled out of the sack at eight (Although, it may have been seven because depending on where we stand in the park our phones either record Eastern Standard Time or Central. Regardless, we had a nice morning, except the return of that devil "Stumpy". I now remember why we shot her cheating fingers off in the first place. Let me set the scene. I dealt the cards. Stumpy, instead of placing two cards in the crib, picked up the remains deck and dealt the cards again. We had so many cards on the table, neither of us could make heads or tails of the situation. Now, I call that obfuscation only a politician could love. She claimed she was distracted by the local sausage that was sizzling in the pan, but I smelled not the sweet aroma of frying pig. Instead, I smelled an anchor clanking, deck swabbing, oyster eyed, slippery sea seal who was trying to cut her losses. Needless to say, if I hadn't rescinded my NRA card, I would have plugged what stumps she had left. After breakfast, we decided to ride up to Bark River to buy some more of the delicious sausage, which we'll share with the crew at Little Eden. Our ride was wonderful. We totaled just over twenty-five miles and averaged just under fourteen miles per hour. It feels good, and each day we get a little stronger. As for our ride today, neither of us felt any ill effects. Our legs felt good, our wind held, and our bottoms offered no complaints. In the afternoon, we drove to Escanaba to the farmer's market to buy some pasties for future use. Our neighbors, who come her every summer, sell home made baked goods, including pasties with rutabagas. Escanaba, third largest city in the U.P. (@12,000) is a port city that has seen better days, but it is the home of the Eskimos, the local high school mascot. This year, the lady Eskimos won the state championship in softball. Back at the park, we enjoyed some time on the beach. Tonight, we're barbecuing some pork chops that we purchased at the Massi Family Market (The same spot we bought the sausage). After such a fine set of experiences, we've come to the conclusion that life is good, especially today.

Selfie of the day: That's "Stumpy" on the left.
This lighthouse, which was restored in 1982, had long service of guiding or ships safely  through the narrow and shallow channel into Escanaba harbor.
This Cal 35 is from the same era as our beloved Eagle.
In the soft breeze, a sailboat made its way back to the safety of the harbor.
The Ludington House once held sway as the finest hotel in the U.P.
 Life is good.
 Especially today.
Little Eden straight ahead as the boat floats.
