Adventure 358: Austin, Texas/Post B

Judy, fit to be fried like a pfannekuchen.
Just about midnight, Frac started rocking, the wind started howling, and the air started crackling. I glanced at the My Radar app on my phone and saw a big splash of red run across the screen. In the next two hours we had lightning, rain, wind, hail, and the fearful scratch of falling branches on top of the trailer. We even had a minor leak, which I believe was caused by the sideways wind pushing massive amounts of water across the top of the trailer. What we didn't have much of last night was sleep. Nonetheless, we soldiered on with Plan A this morning, which started with a little over a mile walk to the Counter Cafe, a superb twenty-six seat diner we found on our last visit to Austin. It didn't disappoint this time either, and the light drizzle sprinkling on us there and back didn't deter us at all. After breakfast, I took a quick trip up the road to see if I could find a Tai Chi lesson. No luck. Then we drove to a yarn shop, which we seem to be attracted to like Texans to BBQ. At any rate, we rarely drive by a yarn shop that we aren't pulled in by the spinning of the wheel, the trebling of the pedal, and the balling of the skein. I mean, really, can there ever be enough socks? In between time, I finally broke Judy's eight game win streak. Her egg dough was puffing. Her fruit was bubbling. I mean, she was turning brown. I loved it, especially because she's so sweet. Naturally, we then had to appease ourselves with a visit to another spot we found on our last trip, that is, the TACO DELI. It quite simply is the best fast food I've ever experienced. I predict a few more visits (Maybe tomorrow) before we leave town. To get our exercise, lest we leave Austin fatter than a couple of pfannekuchens, we walked along the Ladybird trail toward the Barton Springs pool, which was closed today due to predicted flooding after last night's rain. We had planned to top the night off by listening to Dale Watson and the Lone Stars, but Dale was out of town. Instead, we bought a couple of chocolate dipped frozen custard cones. Tomorrow, we'll join up with Rod and Karen Franz who have driven down from Manhattan, Kansas to Austin to visit us (And their old friends, the Mendenhalls). Hopefully, the six of us will get together some time during the week. The best news is that the weather has returned to a very nice promise of mid seventies and blue sky. It's so nice, I decided to put Frac's awning out, complete with lights as trim. We now feel right at home with all the other permanent residents here at the Pecan Grove RV Park. Clearly, we continue to be blessed with a good life, especially the part we lived today.
This diner has been in operation since the fifties.
 Moderation meant one pancake.
Two eggs, two slices of bacon, and a home made biscuit.
Moderation meant one taco each at lunch. I had the "Cowboy". Judy had the "Pollo Mole".
It made us so happy, we could hug.
We'll ride this whole trail on the bike sometime this week.
The trail runs on both sides of Lady Bird lake.
Selfie of the day: "Hey, are those new sweatshirts?"

The Barton Springs pool, a natural treasure of fresh water for the folks of Austin to swim in.
Frac, all dressed up like a local. Say good night, Grace.
