Adventure 603: Half Moon Bay/Post A

More California Dreamin'
First the bad news. The Wiley Cager won the Morro Bay Open. She rattled off an awe inspiring string of Veinte-cuatros, Docelitos, and a spirit crushing Veinte-uno to squash any hopes of my not being skunked. If Morro Bay had a bridge, I'd jump off full of chagrin. But, the resilient one I am, I gathered my ego, stored it in the truck, and safely navigated us the 235 miles to Half Moon Bay. I live to cheat another day! Yesterday, we walked to mass at St. Timothy's where the pastor, Father Ed, was imploring his parishioners to sacrifice more seriously during Lent, especially for the poor. I could like Father Ed. We then enjoyed a second trip to the French bakery downtown. Our croissant egg sandwiches were butter filled decadence, especially sinful considering it's Lent. Fortunately, I've committed to save the world instead of giving up butter filled French dough. We readied the trailer for our departure today, finished all the required tasks, and enjoyed traveling mercies on our journey here to the bay just South of San Francisco. The wind is howling, but the air is salt sweet, and our friend Liz has already arrived. The three of us ventured into downtown Half Moon Bay for an afternoon snack (Mayan fish tacos), and a bearings check for our week here on the beach. There's a nice paved coastal bike path, a number of cute shops, and at least one exquisite restaurant that we'll try. This means of course, that life is good, especially today.

Half Moon Bay beach. Let's make tracks.
We enjoyed an afternoon nosh here: Mayan fish taco plate.
The "Liz Mobile" nestled nicely just beside the beach.

I think this is the campsite we pitched our tents when we rode our bicycles from San Francisco to Morro Bay in 2005. It was Judy and Deb's first tour.

Falcon, currently the cutest grandchild ever.

Here are four other contenders: Franz progeny.

 Emily had her run.
So did Steve and Elizabeth (And just check Instagram for the plethora of O'Brien contenders).

 Sarah, too.

And, of course, elder prince Sawyer.

This guy, youngest prince of the Ulmen clan, still holds sway in our hearts.

Fric and Frac, site #7 Half Moon Bay, 2020. Vote Democrat!

Judy's job is to put the feet down after we've leveled the trailer. She's highly skilled.
