Adventure 666: Riverside RV Park, Boise, Idaho

On the road once again with the goal of leaving Fric and Frac in their storage spaces in Las Vegas. God willing, we'll retrieve them in January for yet another Southwest adventure. This trip we're taking a two thousand mile detour on a ten day fall get away during which we'll spend time in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. We'll drive the team hard the the first three days. We drove 361 miles today, making it to Boise in about seven hours. Tomorrow, our long day, we'll drive 391 miles to just outside Provo, Utah where we'll camp at Utah Lake State Park. Day three we'll run for 357 miles to Durango, Colorado. Day four will seem like a holiday-only 114 miles- to Chama, New Mexico where we'll lounge for three days. After that we'll spend two days in Santa Fe, another night in Flagstaff, Arizona, plus one more in Boulder City, Nevada. On the twenty-third, we'll tuck Fric and Frac into their slots, and head for the casinos. Not really, but we do have to spend most of the day in Las Vegas before we fly home in the evening.

Today met us with traveling mercies: Light traffic, perfect weather, grins on. Even though we've taken this route before, it is always good to have a safe, uneventful day under our belts. As usual, we've started our cribbage tournament. The Wiley Cager, who is on a win string this month, defeated me soundly at lunch. I hope that isn't a harbinger of things to come because, if cornered, I could resort to some ballot stuffing. For now, I must say as we're about to stroll along Boise River Greenbelt (Too bad we don't have more time; really nice bike path) that life is good, especially today.

P.S. We did manage a three mile walk along the river. Very pleasant.

Site B-24: Home Sweet Home for the night.
A view from Dead Man's Pass; not so scary in the warm fall sun.
Still, it's a formidable climb any time of year.
And glad we are to start down the other side.
Lunch: Site of the first game of this tournament, a loss of twenty-three, and lucky I was not to be skunked.

Whew! We made it, happily, gratefully, and all the other -lys you can think of.
