Modern "Fifties" Girls. |
Our last day in Phoenix, 2015 (We spent the whole alphabet here), began with a trip to Coronado Park for Tai Chi. The instruction was excellent, and once again,I wished I could be two people so I could stay here and learn as well as travel with my bunny. But alas, as Robert Frost says, "...way leads onto way..." Tomorrow, we head to Tucson to visit our friends, David and Ginny Kral, and then it's on to Texas with a brief stopover in New Mexico. After the morning class, we came upon a gold mine of hot rods. They had five city blocks cordoned off. There were classic cars from several eras. There were even girls all dolled up in starched dresses covering pure white petticoats. They had ankle high Bobby socks over black and white saddle shoes. One even had a white umbrella she was twirling as she wandered about. What a fantastic show!. After that, we made a trip to Whole Paycheck (Foods by any other name) for some groceries. We then spent the rest of the evening lounging around until the Zag game came on. We bit our finger nails as the Zags struggled over a very determined San Francisco team. Oh, by the way, the Wylie Cager stomped me (I narrowly avoided a skunk) in the morning game to tie the score. We will play our final game tomorrow morning for all of the Phoenix Suns (As if anyone would want them). It's been a good stay in Phoenix. We enjoyed several of the tourist sites the city has to offer, I learned (The moves at least) Tung Kai YIng's form as well as an excellent Qi Gong set called Tiger Mountain, and we rode almost a hundred miles on the bike. I now have a lifetime of things to work on in the art of Tai Chi, but that is exactly the point. Perfection is unattainable, but the quest is worthy. We also got to spend some quality time with Jim Rita, Russ, Kathy, Happy and Forey. Believe when I say, life is good, especially today.
David leading us in push hands warm up exercises.
Allen and I practicing one handed push hands.
Here were are practicing push hands at a waist high angle.
David at the very beginning of the slow set.
The very first posture called Grasping the Peacock's tail.
The beginning of a posture called Roll Back.
Nancy and John (Our Monday night teacher) readying to pivot into a posture called Fist under Elbow.
Myself in a posture called, Single Whip (Left elbow too straight; right hand too low).
We almost traded this guy for our RV.
The back end of the little tear drop trailer.
Anyone remember Car Hops?
I could have bought this 1955 Cadillac for just $25,000.
I actually brought my son Steve home from the hospital after he was born in my own 1949 Chevrolet.
Of course, we had to return for a fifth time to the Atoyac Cafe for a Mole Burrito.
