Big day for us. Our son and his family arrived for a long weekend, and though they had to rouse themselves with the proverbial chickens to make it to the airport this morning, they were glad to leave the frustratingly frigid temperatures that early spring in Spokane offers. So happy they were to be in the warm sun of the Southwest that after settling in we all headed to the pool area. Steve and I kept ourselves warm in the hot tub, but the "girls" (Bonnie, Emily, Sarah) frolicked like otters in the pool. Occasionally, the girls would warm themselves in the hot tub as well, but they all thought the 85 degree pool water wasn't bad. We then prepared dinner, which consisted of our now "go to" guest menu of rice in achiote paste, refried beans. chopped skirt steak, pineapple salsa, guacamole, fresh tortillas made with lard, and orange slices. For desert we snarfed some exquisite pineapple empanadas. After dinner, Judy and Bonnie knitted and chatted. Emily engrossed herself in a movie, but also managed to multitask as part of the conversation. Sarah broke out her art supplies and sketched a dragon. Since it's basketball madness I had a game on in the background, and by 9 we decided to go to bed convinced that life was good, especially today.
That would be Mimi, the photographer babe.
Emily, a confident young lady, says to her mom, "Thank you for letting me pursue my interests."
I'm not sure what high school girls watch these days, but I think I heard something about Zombies.
