Adventure 297: Joseph, Oregon/Post B

One of several sculptures in Joseph
We feel a little wounded this morning, suffering as we are from the first world tragedy of losing Judy's I-Pad. The last time we saw it was yesterday at our favorite Joseph haunt, Arrowhead Chocolate and Coffee shop. I had written the blog. Judy read it on her I-Pad. We left to enjoy our day. Now, we're grimly trying not to incriminate each other with innuendo, recrimination, and outright suspicion. To even call it a senior moment would send blood spraying like a broken hydrant, except those playing in the spray would be screaming like characters from "Carrie", especially Judy who could be heard wailing, "I don't like this senior moment thing!" So we move on. The good news is that due to the magic of technology, we can remotely lock the device, and even erase it if need be. So, we move on. Wounds heal; mistakes are forgotten and corrected. And there is the memory of the great day we had yesterday. It was a day where beauty loitered, and even at its end, the sun took its time setting as if it, too, didn't want to miss anything. Our highlight was riding 26 miles out through the ranch lands around Joseph. There was no wind; the road was mostly flat (Which at our present level of fitness is a blessing), and the scenery was breath taking. After our ride, we stopped at the Arrowhead so Judy could enjoy a cup of hot apple cider. When the young girl served it, the cup was so brim full, it spilled, coating the sides of the cup and leaving a ring on the counter. I loved the chocolate girl's comment, "I guess I got a little enthusiastic." Wouldn't it be grand if we all held such a positive view of our self worth. She didn't condemn herself with an "Aww Shucks" (or worse). How many of us, upon self-examination, would curse our own ineptness. Better, I think, to be kind--especially to ourselves. After all, life is good, especially today.

The photos can't capture the stunning contrast of yellow stubble against purple majesty.
If you can, you should come visit.
